4 pounds squash
SEVEN AND A HALF POUNDS CUCUMBERS!
24 oz fava beans
2 ears of corn (that'll be the kids' morning snack tomorrow)
24 oz green beans (I know how I'm cooking those!)
8 oz salad greens
12 oz basil (pesto)
2 onions

AND a quart of blueberries
AND more than a quart (half a gallon?) each of peaches and plums.

And, of course, a dozen eggs.

Holy shit.

That's a fucking lot of cucumbers.


Incidentally, I started my period today. It's so weird... I was so hyper and cheerful this week. So I start my period *totally unprepared* (most of my pads still unwashed - and the answer to that question is that I both have more pads than I can use every month, and yet do not feel I have quite enough), and I'm out and about with the nieces, and it's totally gonna screw up my schedule for the day - and I was still very cheerful, cadged a ride home and was just so happy.

Carried a good 25 pounds of food down from 28th street to Union Square just because I could (and because I needed to hie me to a bathroom), and I was singing in my head the whole way.

It's like PMS, but less PMS-y.

Really weird, but I'm too happy to complain.

Actually, the way she did it it was really quick, and apparently she doesn't like the wateriness of the "core".

I guess. I do deseed my tomatoes for just that reason. Cut out the seeds and eat 'em separately, or else give them to the nieces for that purpose, that's me.

See, as with cucumbers, I love the wateriness of it. Biting into a tomato is pure joy. :) I mean, I might deseed them for cooking, since I don't particular care for cooked tomatoes, but she wasn't even cooking the cucumbers in this recipe. (Does anyone cook cucumbers, actually?)

I do like biting into a tomato. I just don't like the watery factor once they're in salads or sandwiches or whatnot. If they're cooked, I don't care about the seeds.

Google gives me several recipes for cooked cucumbers.
