One more Ana-cdote for the day.

After the kiddos had their respective naps, they had a little bit of soy yogurt. Evangeline, as you heard, actually had two afternoon snacks - the yogurt and the apple - because she'd barely touched her breakfast or lunch, nor any of her food the day before. (She did, of course, eat most of her cinnamon toast, but that's why I made it! She'd also had a lot of watery poo, and apparently painful to her (damn, I forgot to tell her parents....), because as she pooed, she cried "Poo-poo!", even before it started coming out, as I was changing her.)
And as they ate, I called their mom to tell them that they were eating, and awake, and feeling a little better... but as I was saying that, I had to clarify that they'd both been slightly warm in the morning, and Angelique through the afternoon.
Thing is, if we let on that Angelique might be sick or coming down with something, she makes a concerted effort to milk it for all its worth, asking for medicine, for a spoonful of honey, for TV, for tea, for Jello (which I try not to make unless I think one of us can't hold our food), and even for bizarre things like "one of those cookies to make my tummy feel better". I can, of course, say no - but I'd prefer for it not to come up at all.
So, I resorted to spelling and Spanish. "She had a bit of a fff... I mean an eff ee vee ee ar but she feels better after her en... after her siesta" (she can spell nap). And after I hung up, Angelique, bright girl, though to ask me what I said about her. Because after going through all that effort to conceal my conversation from prying ears, I'd totally tell her what I said. This is the pain of my daily existence, I'll have you know!
(Actually, no. Explaining to Elise that "What do you think?" is not the same as "Tell me the correct answer, NOW!" was the pain of my daily existence. I didn't expect her to *know* the correct answer to this or that homework problem, google could tell me that, I just wanted her to think a little and make something up! Ana could do that, and I routinely ask her to do so.)
