I didn't know about it until after I related to her mom a very similar story that she told me. Ana later told me about her nightmare - apparently, she and her sister and I were at the SICM, and "shooters" came in, so we hid in the "house" (an area with planks that the kids can use to build houses with... not a very good hiding spot), but of course we were found, and she woke up before she could get shot.
The story that she told me...
She was pretending to be on the phone with her "boyfriend" (as she says) Patrick. When she hung up, she turned and told me, very matter-of-factly "That was Patrick. His parents are dead. A shooter came and killed them, but Patrick hided so they said 'Oh, we can't find him' and left, and they went to the museum and killed a lot of people there. But then the police came, and put them, the bad guys, A LA POUBELLE! IN THE GARBAGE! THE STINKY, SMELLY GARBAGE! And they put the garbage inside a CROCODILE! And the crocodile at them, and nobody ever saw them again, and the people were saved"
So you see that she turned a very scary dream into a fairly disturbing story with a firm ending of people getting punished, and other people being saved.
Knowing about the dream also helps to explain why she screamed earlier, ran into her mom's room, locked the door, declared there were "shooters", hid under the blanket (okay - hiding under the blanket is a standard game over here), and actually *was quiet* (not standard). (And, I have to say, if I'm ever in a situation where the kids and I have to hide, I'll have Ana hide apart from me and Evangeline. Evangeline can't keep her mouth shut.)
As far as Patrick goes, we saw him at a friend's party on Saturday. He was very excited (like Ana, clearly working out some of his fear) because he was in a CRASH, and there was SMOKE, and the POLICE CAME, and he went into somebody's HOUSE, and his mom was SCARED, and all the time Ana is trying to tell him something. He'd take a breath, and she'd try to jump in, and he'd start up again! When he started to repeat himself I interrupted to give Ana a chance - and all she wanted to say is "Hi, Patrick! Look, I'm here too!"
