I'm feeling mixed about this article. On the one hand, he's right: these laws are causing exactly the wrong effect. On the other hand, he seems to think the answer is don't regulate any more – which is flatly wrong, as the meat packing industry demonstrated at the turn of the twentieth century, and the California power grid demonstrated at the turn of the twenty-first century, and the dietary supplement industry still demonstrates today.

Laws like this need to be written or rewritten more carefully, that is true. But they still need to be written.
