You know what annoys me about Ann Coulter?

It's not the fact that she's an annoying little twit, or the fact that she's more misogynistic than... well, nearly anybody (a nice trick considering she's a woman). It's definitely the fact that she's a hypocrite. I could live with her bashing women, and feminism, and what have you, if only she'd do it while cooking dinner for her husband, and leave all the politics to the men. Otherwise, it just makes my head hurt.

And this is the only post I ever intend to make on that person. Waste of my time, really.

A friend of mine once theorized that Ann Coulter secretly longs for some fantasy of 1950s-style housewifery that never really existed -- June Cleaver, basically, except maybe richer. She's bitter that she's had to work and make her own way instead of picking up her MRS degree, and she blames feminism and liberalism for the shift in society that actually placed expectations on women.

I wouldn't be surprised if that were true. She's unmarried, yet she constantly harps on single women as having no value, making stupid decisions, and so forth. There's a lot of self-hatred there that she tries to project onto liberal women, because it would be too painful to admit that her own personality has a great deal to do with her lack of romantic success.

Certainly if she realized that, despite the feminist revolution, someone like me can pick up an MRS and become a stay-at-home housewife without too much effort, she would have to confront the reality that she's only got herself to blame.

That makes sense, though really, it seems like a lot of effort to put in to maintaining her serious denial.

And meanwhile those of us in 'traditional' situations, at least believe in equality and all that.

Yeah I'm barefoot and cooking and tending home and children, and he's out working but damnit my kids can be whatever they want to be and love who they want and live how they want!!! I'm in long skirts and covered head and all that shit but I al--
