Here we are, the entire family, out shopping. But we're taking a break to fight over a found trike. And while the grown-ups are discussing what to do next, I look down at Evangeline and go

"Huh. It's wet beneath her. Almost like she... like she... oh"

I got Jenn's attention, and then we saw that it wasn't just pee, it was poo dripping down her leg onto her shoes and the sidewalk, ew ew ew ew ew ew ewwwwwwww!

And it wasn't the sort of stuff that could easily be picked up in a plastic bag, either. I mean, Jenn and my mom did their best while I ran to the store and bought wipes, diapers, and batman PJs (best I could do), but... let's just say it was ultimately both unhygenic and humiliating. But at least what remained was highly visible. Ew.

Had to buy her new shoes, too. Twice. The first pair didn't fit, and Jenn had already taken the tags off. As we were in the store picking out a second pair (man, that child is hard to fit!), she started to poo again. Not all over the floor, thankfully, and the cashier pointed us to the bathroom to change her, so that was all right.

I bought a sheet, put her in a hip carry (she wasn't at all happy about this, but it seemed a lot safer than tying her onto anybody's back. Hip carries are easier to get them in and out of), and we finished our shopping for lack of anything better to do. She was fine (tired) the rest of the day, though, so we did our best to hurry. Got her some soygurt with active cultures.
