1. She's definitely making little proto-sentences. If you know her, you hear the intonation, and you hear the words mixed in with the sounds, and you know what she means. Like, Friday, she'd been playing in one of the museum strollers with her sister, and I took it away from them because they kept going out of my sight with it for far too long. (I don't mind Angelique (trying to call her that now) being out of my sight there so long as I can hear her and I can see the exits, but Evangeline is much younger.) Later, Evangeline looked up to the rack I'd put the stroller on, pointed, and said something along the lines of "I-oh-in-dat???" I mean, I don't think that's what came out, but that's what it sounded like. I told her no, and she immediately started in with "Pleeeeeeease?" too!
2. Speaking of language, she's also totally in that language explosion bit. New words every day. Egg on Thursday. Ice on Friday. Words that strangers understand! This time next week, I'm sure she'll be saying things like train, elephant, and... and... oh, I don't know, loreal!
3. She is so different from her sister in so many ways! Like, at the toddler programs, I saw her dancing to The Monkey Dance. Like, doing the motions and everything! I remember the first time Angelique did it. She was already 3. Her dad was there - and she didn't do this again for weeks. Or, Evangeline already understands the concept of "freeze" in the freeze dance - she strikes a silly pose instead of staying as she is, but still.
4. This girl pees on the toilet. We put her on. She pees. We take her off. It's great.
5. She still can't have dairy.
6. I found this out the day she kept moving my hand to somebody's Goldfish crackers. I gave in. Let her have 10. She pooped all the next day and I nearly ran out of diapers before Jenn showed up with more.
7. God, she loves her sister. She gets more upset if Ana disappears than if Jenn or 'dul does!
8. I'm so over her taking off her shoes all the time and then asking me to put them back on.
And, I'm saying this now to get it out in the open.
Evangeline likes to wheel cars and trucks around on the floor. She will crawl around for ages at a time doing this.
She actually didn't start doing this until *right* after several people commented that it was one "boy pastime" they never enjoyed, or that their boy did that but not their girl, or whatever. Or maybe I just didn't notice until then. At any rate, the timing was so weird, I didn't want to be argumentative by mentioning it then, but it's true.
Nowadays she'll also do similar things with toy animals or boats, but it's really all about the wheels for her. The other day, she was playing with both a stuffed kitten and a wooden firetruck, and you could literally see the wheels turning (no, really!) as she realized she could put the kitten in the firetruck and have double the fun!!!!!!!!
