We live right near three busy streets. One of them is the cross-street for the other two. And every year there's some three or four serious accidents at the *bottom* of our hill (between streets 1 and 2) and another couple at the *top* of our hill (well, the middle, but you know what I mean), between streets 1 and 3. (Despite having fewer accidents, the top of the hill is the more dangerous place to cross, due to the way the traffic runs. Unless you're willing to wait 12 minutes for the lights to synch up nicely, that is - and even then, it's not exactly the safest pedestrian crossing ever.)

It was just a few months ago that a car crashed into the corner store nearby and took out their entire front. They've got barriers up there just to prevent this sort of thing, and it still happened.

This time, I'm on the bus, and the driver announces he's skipping the next several stops (including mine, which was the next stop) because of the fatal accident, he's been detoured.

Apparently, the road is blocked off, because this time, a car hit the telephone pole and it fell. I didn't know this, I hopped off and went back a block rather than walk with Ana and the baby past the accident scene.

I don't even know how fast these cars have to be going to make these accidents. In broad daylight, no less, and nothing wrong with the street, at least.
