Evangeline is *officially* 19 months now.
May. 20th, 2007 11:26 amLink (In regards to their "Monster advice", my mother says that the only way to get her 2-year-old brother to not be scared of the lion in his closet was to march around the house banging pots and pans, and chase the lion into the bathroom, which had a door that locked. Their neighbors must've loved this, but it *does* sound fun!)

1. She keeps coming up with new words, or even new signs (!). Like, yesterday, at Ana's party, one of the younger kids was in the bedroom playing with the light switch, and Evangeline pointed up and clearly said "DITE!" a few times. Or last week, at the museum, I was asking her "Are you a dog? Are you a duck? Are you Mommy?" to hear her say "Nooooooo!" at me - and when I asked if she was a cat, she signed "cat" and said "meow!" which was, frankly, adorable. She then proceeded to quack when I asked if she was a duck, and say no when I asked if she was Evangeline.
2. She loves to sit with a book and "read", almost as much as Ana does.
3. She can definitely walk up and down stairs. This frightens me, and other people who seem to think she needs help.
4. She's very huggy.
5. She still wants to sit in laps to eat meals. I refuse. Other people can do what they want, but I refuse.
6. If she's doing something she kinda knows she shouldn't, and I've told her she shouldn't, and I ask "Do you need to go up?" or "Do you need to sit down?", she'll stop doing it, shake her head at me, and go do something else. That, my friends, is REALLY COOL.
7. She *does* say hide! And she hides! Now, I just have to teach her she's not allowed to hide without telling me first, because walking all around the third floor of the museum, just to find she was right where she was supposed to be (but hiding) is not funny. Or maybe I can teach her she has to answer me when I call her, even if she's hiding? Ana knows that, but I taught her this rule when she was much older.
8. If I sing the "Bus, bus" song (Bus, bus, b-u-s, bus, bus, b-u-s, bus, bus, b-u-s and b-u-s maaaaaakes....") she'll fill in the last word with "BUH!" for me. I've also found her singing other songs.
9. I think I've caught her asking "Where's..." questions. Like "Where's Daddy?" or "Where's Ana?"
