Specifically, a few diaper-related things I've seen in the past ten days or so....

1. The Pull-up Left on the Toilet.

Ew. Seriously, ew.

Is it so hard for you to carry it two steps to the garbage? Given how long it takes little kids to wash their hands, it's not like you were going to be leaving anytime soon, right? Or, if that's too hard, there's always the little baskets for pads - one peed-in pull-up, rolled up (which would be considered if it weren't still so gross) fits in just right.

2. The Diaper Thrown in the Garbage

I hesitate to call this good, as that implies some form of special effort on your part, but it's better than the alternative (see above), however, not when it's paired with....

3. The Poo-smeared Wipe Draped on the Garbage

So you can't even put your own mess in without dealing with The Wipe. EWEWEWEWEWEWEW!!!!!! How do you do this? I can understand the first one, maybe you got distracted, but how do you put your wipe on the garbage when it is smeared with your child's shit? WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?

4. The Nasty, Rancid Stench

If the diaper is that bad, after you throw it out, make a quick trip to the front desk to inform them that the bathroom is no longer smelling pleasantly of overwhelming vanilla air freshener, nor of overwhelming lemony cleaner. They'll take care of it. But they can't do this if you don't tell them.

5. The Blocked Stall

Okay. I understand why the handicapped stall houses the changing table. And as I don't require a wheelchair, this only irks me in a very theoretical sense. But when I have difficulty opening the door all the way because you were too lazy to close the changing table? I can only imagine how difficult that's got to be in a wheelchair.

Or, if you can't wrap your mind about that concept, picture doing it with a monster stroller. Or even a small stroller. It's not damn possible. CLOSE THE CHANGING TABLE WHEN YOU USE IT.

This stuff, it's just basic courtesy. And while loudly mentioning them to Ana and Evangeline when I discover them does provide a useful object lesson, it'd be better if people would just show a little sense and consideration, thanks very much.

yeah, it can get pretty gross. I mean, of course nowhere near as gross as leaving diapers elsewhere. and don't even get me started on people who change their kids' dirty diapers in places that are NOT a bathroom....fine in your house, not so fine in public. I think parents don't realize that there are people who are NOT parents who are not immune to their child's dirty diapers...moms are used to this stuff, but the rest of us really don't want to deal with the smell and mess. nor, I'm sure, do the other (more considerate) mothers.
