As I spoke to someone on Friday who was personally witnessing snow in Las Cruces, I can definitively say: stranger things have happened.

It certainly is snowing here (and apparently also in Las Cruces, and in Tucson, but that's just based on the radar, I haven't spoken to anyone down there since Friday).
