We watched the tail end of Sound of Music the other day. God, I love that movie. I mean, we watch it, and we sing, and we cry, and it's nothing at all like what really happened, but I love it anyway.

And we all hugged and rocked and sang Edelweiss, which prompted me to look up Edelweiss (a song not very well known in Austria, apparently), and this led me to the Edelweiss Pirates, and I just....

I guess I'm just in one of those moods, but I'm filled with admiration for them. I mean, I'm filled with admiration for anybody who did anything in those times....

But still. I was mildly impressed.

In not-at-all-related news (but I think of them together anyway), the Boy Scouts are getting some more of their special privileges taken away. This is because atheists run this country and hate Christians. Yes, somebody tried to tell me that.

I saw The Sound of Music once. I didn't care for it. Too much fear and dread, of Nazis and the stern father, for me.

Yes, and I have to say, I cannot get enough of it! What a fool I was.

Boy scouts put me in such a hard position as parents of boys.

I wish my children could join a group like that, but there isn't one here. Plus I don't like dictating to my children certain things, which is why, for a while, my son went to a fundamentalist Baptist church. SO FAR Finbar has no interest, and when told why I dont like the scouts, agrees with my reasoning. But what if he really wants to join, knowing all he does about them?

I just hope he keeps a clear head about it, I guess.

Only other option I've found is the Boys and Girls club, which, in this town, is a bit rough. As in cops getting called there. There is also the Y, which we will probably join once we start driving (it is not accessible by public transport).

I should. I once tried to start up a GS troop in Brooklyn, that was a bit hard. I'll look into the details. My schedule and lack of car may be more of a barrier than it was in NYC but we will see. Maybe the UCC or the Quakers or another group might be a positive ally in this.
