At age, what, two?
It's a very cute story, but I can't enjoy it because I'm busy going "bully for you" in my mind.
Today, we were the very last people to leave the SICM. All the staff are standing around waiting for us to leave, so embarrassing. And why? Because I completely forgot to take "bundling everybody up" into account. Two jackets for Ana, and a hat, and a hood, and mittens. A sweater and hat and hood and mittens and socks for the baby. Baby under my poncho. Baby falls asleep, so give her a tiny bit of head support there. (She just passed right out when she got under that poncho. This is what the slightly annoyed staff termed my "magic coat". They'd've been more impressed if we'd been gone sooner.)
And it's not even that cold out.
And this is going to be the routine from now through until, oh, I'd say mid-April, minimum. Later for days we go into the city - the wind by the water is fierce.
For crying out loud, we're hardly arctic circle here! I want my sun back. *sniffles pathetically*
(I also want some gloves for me. My hands were getting cold today!)

Date: 2006-10-27 11:06 pm (UTC)It's not the mittens that kill me, it's *everything*. The coats. The mittens. The hats. The scarves. The multiple layers of clothing. The hoods. The blankets, hopefully, can at least be done away with for this year.

Date: 2006-10-27 11:48 pm (UTC)Because (1) you can use your fingers when you need to [which is my main issue with regular mittens] and (2) when you don't, they're slightly warmer than regular mittens because your fingers and the top part of your palm have two layers of coverage.
I meant for you, not the kidlets, although if Ana gets frustrated with her mittens and pulls them off and loses them, convertible mittens might be a way to get her to stop.

Date: 2006-10-28 12:59 am (UTC)Honestly, I'm the one who gets frustrated and loses my handcoverings, sad to say. I just tend to buy jackets and sweaters and such with overlong sleeves, and only take my hands out when strictly necessary.

Date: 2006-10-28 01:02 am (UTC)I lose mine too, but I made a point of keeping track of the new ones I bought last year. But I'm going to buy more before they go out of style, just in case.
