And she asked, so I told her what I saw in her, and she got upset.
So I dropped the subject, right?
Skip ahead to early September. My mother is at the Richmond County Fair, and she picks up this light-up fan thing that makes pretty pictures as it spins around. Since then and now, not a day has gone by when she hasn't turned it on at least once, often calling me into the room to see how it lights up and looks pretty. Today, she specifically requested I turn off the light for her before telling me how cool it is and she waits for the flower pattern.
Every. Day. For a month, people!
My mother is stimming her heart out on this little cheap light-up gadget, and when I even pointed this out to her, she denied, denied, denied.
LOL.
(It is a pretty nifty device. I might want one of those myself, if ever I should find one!)

Date: 2006-10-12 04:24 am (UTC)It's funny, after therapy today for F (still undiagnosed with whatever the heck he has) and the OT person said "we worked with chalk today and he had a hard time..." and I just cringed and started laughing and cringing and told her "I TOLD YOU HE GETS EVERYTHING FROM ME" because I swear, everything that is a 'problem' with Fin is the same with me.
EVERYTHING.
So in all seriousness, after F. gets back from the clinic for development and disabilities (where you get the full team that goes over your background and studies you from head to toe), I'm setting up an appointment for myself.
And I will use the headsets that the boys use for vestibular habilitation. And all the hints they give F I am tring out. Because you know what? If it makes his life easier, it should make mine easier too, right?
Ok, I'm babbling again. GUESS WHICH ONE OF MY KIDS DOES THAT TOO? Heh.

Date: 2006-10-12 04:44 am (UTC)Are there studies on kids who didn't get shots are ARE autistic? Becuse for financial reasons T did NOT get all his shots (In fact he may have only gotten hepatitis, his records showed none, but I could have sworn he got SOMETHING).
He only started getting his shots this April and finished this summer. My first concerns were a bit young with him, signs of problems go back to birth, and my real fears started LAST August.
So, yeah, I know there are studies showing kids who got the shots were no more likely to be autistic than those who didnt, but I was wondering if there were ones the other way round, kids like Ted.
Not that it matters, shots or not the kid STILL CANT TALK and it makes me nuts. That and the spitting. PLEASE find better oral stim things kthnx kiddo! I'd almost rather he took up smoking. ;)
