On the subject of formula...

People are always pointing out that "Formula smells (and presumably tastes) disgusting".

I don't know about formula for babies, but I remember that when I had orphan kittens to watch, their kitten replacement formula didn't smell all that bad. (And come to think of it, I don't recall Sethie's formula being especially stinky.)

Assuming there are any similarities, I'm not sure that argument is as great as it seems.

(Of course, it should be noted that most of these kittens died, so this is hardly a stellar reccommendation for formula.)

(On the other hand, I was quite young, and not a cat. It's equally possible that I was simply incompetent, and should never have been entrusted with the care of infant felines.)

Before I had my daughter my childless, daycare working friend told me how bad it smelled. I still don't know what kind she was talking about. You want bad, we'll talk about the dried, crusty breastmilk that seems to coat EVERYTHING the first weeks and months.

Seth had Soy formula, and trust me, it was BAD. The reason, by the time a bottle was handed to you for him, was becasue it was so chock full of cereal so he didnt puke 400,000 times from a couple ounces. Remember those pukey days? Werent they fun?! :(

But man, did that smell bad.

I said that the reason you didnt notice how badly his formula stank was because by the time it got to you, it has so much cereal in it so he'd not puke 400,000 times for 3 ounces of milk.
