In addition to walking, the baby has recently been trying out another new skill.

Namely, planning her crying so that she has time to lie down properly before bawling her heart out when she doesn't get to, for example, devour another scruchie. (She's got a bad case of the scrunchie munchies.)

I'm not sure what she hopes to accomplish by this. She *does* seem to have the idea of "communicating" (moving my hand so I can give her a high five or pick something up, signing "tickle" or "milk" at me), and this does look planned (she'll very calmly move from standing, to sitting, to flopping down without smacking her head on the floor), but I don't know that she's actively trying to "get her way" yet. More likely, she thinks this is an effective way of making her wants known.

And it is. It really is. Pity it doesn't just work like that. I don't care how much she screams, she *still* cannot eat the scrunchies.

Oh, also, scrunchies>glasses. That's what Madelyn goes after. Less choking hazard, more blindness hazard, I suppose.

Can't do that with Madelyn, unfortunately. She uses hair as handholds, no matter how stable she is. Even with her dad, and he barely has hair left to pull. This child is going to be a pill, that's for sure.

Did you ever read the NYT article on "How Shamu Saved my Marriage" or somesuch? About how writing a book on how exotic animals are trained led to her using some of those techniques on her husband LOL. Anyway, point being - pointedly ignore the unwanted behavior for now. (Much like you looking away from Ana on the playground lol!)
