And Lizziey knows the rest of THAT joke! *grins*

I really was at the mall, bought some baby toys, sillily left one of them at Lizziey's house, I'll have to pick it up tomorrow before heading over to Jenn's to watch Ana. Who is SO cute. And SO sweet. I saw her today (and Seth, but that's not as interesting) and actually recognized her hat first. I'm a bad aunty :(

So I got her a toy or two to make up for it, using Lizziey's money.

I actually have nothing interesting to say today. No drama, no terrified rendition of the news, no witty quotes, I don't even have any quizzes. The only thing that happened to me was I wasted three hours of my life going to school when, as it happened, it's CLOSED for Lincoln's birthday. Honestly, who does that? They're closed on President's day too. Not Washington's birthday, though that's the federal holiday while Lincoln's isn't, and even when there wasn't President's day we always took of the following MONDAY instead of the guy's actual birthday. *rolls her eyes loudly*

So I'll post here, and tell you guys to check out my last post, which I made yesterday and, for some unknown reason made private instead of public. There's nothing bad in it, just a few questions, so go read it, go read it! And I have another question... did NOBODY read my much earlier post about the infamous condom article? I thought it was funny, but I got no comments!

Heh, I wouldn't be complaining about what I get off myself. :) Then again, I'm all up for more days off and vacations. Less school = more funtime. But, going along with my wonderful luck, this school district has almost no days off. Sure, we get Martin Luther King Jr. Day off, thankfully, but we still have to go on Columbus Day and President's Day. Down here they sort of combine MLK Day and President's Day into one school holiday, which the school calendar calls "Heritage Day." This is on MLK Day, so they might as well call it that. *rolls eyes* I'd be happy to get Lincoln's birthday AND President's Day AND MLK Day off. (You did get MLK Day off, right?)

But then again, I would love all holidays off, federal or not. :) It would be soooo much fun to get Halloween off. More time for pumpking carving and goodies!

Semi-related note: Am I the only one who finds this weird? Our spring break is the third week of March. The week before is the last week of the third nine weeks/first week of the fourth nine weeks. On the Thursday of that week, school is out for a report card, parent-teacher conference day. The Friday after that is a school day. So, we get a day off and then come back for one day before spring break. It just seems like too much trouble, mihi. I'm not sure yet, but I'm thinking it's gonna be one of those days where nobody counts absences, so you might as well not come unless, for whatever reason, you really need to (other days like that are the last day before Christmas break, last day of school, etc.), but still. Also, I've always wondered why we get Thursdays off for report card days instead of Fridays. I heard once it has to deal with more parents being able to come because everybody has something to do on Fridays (riiiight...) or that Friday is payday for most, so less parents come (?). I'm sorry, but I think most people, even if they do have something planned, would be able to come by for their kid's report card. They don't even really need to stay and chat with the teachers if they're short on time. *shrug* Just seems really odd.

I don't really complain too much, just sort of now and to my sis (not to anybody at the school or anybody who could really do anything about it), but I just find it odd. You're right, though.

But then again, I'm not exactly sure if it'll be one of those throwaway days. By then the fourth nine weeks would technically have started, so the teachers might actually want to get in some new work before being off for a week since the timer for the end of school is running now. *shrug* Most will probably not do much since it's a Friday and so close to vacation. I just sort of assumed.

I wouldn't complain too much. Over here there are only 8 public holidays in the entire year, and 4 of them are Christmas/Easter (I think Easter Sunday is a public holiday which is somewhat redundant.) Not that I can actually work out when the 8th is. Oh, New Years Day. I think. (Other three are May Day, May Bank Holiday, August Bank Holiday.)

I meant Phibby shouldn't complain about having to go in on various holidays (I'm not sure what the university stance is on public holidays here - I think we have to go in on them unless they fall inside our time off.) I utterly sympathise with you turning up to find there was nothing to turn up for *huggles* Even more evil than when I used to have 40 mins walk to school, and the same back, just for a 10 minute waste of time consultation with my moron of a form tutor.

Ow. x_x And I thought we were deprived of school holidays! *shuts up*

I find it pretty awesome that you get May Day off. :) I remember we used to sort of celebrate it in North Dakota, but now wherever we go, nobody's even heard of it. We never did any maypole dancing or anything too big, but we'd always leave something on a neighbor's steps and run off before they saw us. Very fun and cute tradition. ^_^
