But it seems like I got nine new friend-ofs in the past three days, six of them in one day, so I'd like to know who you all are. I'm pretty sure I don't know you all, and introductions may be in order. Heck, people who've been my friend-of longer can also tell me why.
Sample questions you may want to answer
1. Who are you? If I don't know you, how did you find me?
2. Why did you add me?
3. Had you read my journal for a while before adding me? If so, why'd you bite the bullet and add me?
4. What's one thing interesting about you that I might like to know? Or several boring things, whatever.

3) I've been reading your journal (and a few other NC people's journals) since that big LJ code swap a few months back. The reasons why I bit the bullet, as you said, have been listed already. That and not friending these people seems rather stalker-esque, which I don't like the thought of.
4) Not much else I'd like to say except that I'm somewhat shy and don't like talking. So I should probably get back to ... not talking ...

Date: 2004-02-12 09:19 pm (UTC)2. I looked through your interests list and journal entries for further signs of your political persuasion. They were full of positive signs. You are a member of about a million left-wing political communities, and of quite a few communities about books, history, and academia (I <3 people who bother to read), and of several childfree communities (one less obstacle to conversion!)
3. Yes, I read your most recent entries. Oh look, anyone who can count being added by
4. I just got interviewed this week by a writer for the New York Times magazine who's working on an article about my website. It's not the first time I've been interviewed, but it's the biggest media outlet that's interviewed me, and in the 24 hours leading up to the interview I was very, very, very stricken with stage fright.

Date: 2004-02-12 10:02 pm (UTC)As for the silly Republican whatshisname, he'd been adding a lot of people, apparently just to piss them off (or so I assume judging by their rants in some of my comms...) I take it philosophically... another person to add onto my count! I'm nearly at 80.
And as for childfree comms (not the infamous one), I love kids. Seriously. Love my niece, love my nephew, they're the greatest. But I can't even take care of myself, there's no way I ever intend to try to take care of somebody else.
*hugs* Stagefright goes away. Trust me. You'll get over it about three days after the article prints.

Date: 2004-02-13 03:21 am (UTC)I like you. I respect you. You write in an interesting manner about subjects that inter... erm, arouse my curiousity. Oh, and you added me ;0)
On and off since you've had it. I bit the bullet and added you because I didn't have an LJ previously, making it stunningly difficult to add you. I bit the bullet and got an LJ because Figgy called me E-dahlink and I couldn't resist. Weird, huh?
Hmm... Well I'll start with my usual interesting thing. I have a birthmark in my right eye. Erm... A guy at uni got me addicted to the chocolate & caramel shorties they sell in the Union coffee shop, but then they went out of stock and haven't had them since (is that interesting? I dunno. They *are* yummy.) And finally... erm... I love using made up words. I didn't send a single Christmas card this year without at least one made up word inside it. Fantabulous and spifftacular and niftytastic and wonderfluous. Prettyful is one of my favourite made up words.
Can I go now?

Date: 2004-02-13 05:59 am (UTC)2. Because I like reading your LJ, it's interesting... I tend to lose track of sites I like reading though if I don't have them bookmarked / friended / something like that.
3. Yup, been reading for a while. See above for the friending reason... that, and I figured I might as well -tell- people I read that I read them. Less stalkerish that way. (That's why I went with friending over simply bookmarking, even though I only use my LJ to post comments / post in communities / read a couple friends-only posts on a couple LJs.)
4. I dunno. I like reading, I like Latin even though I've not studied it for ages, I help run an IRC network, I have a weblog (http://www.wingedspirit.net/blog/) you can go read if you're curious (it's the reason I don't post in my LJ, I post in my blog instead), I'm the quiet shy indrawn "geek" type. I'm not all that interesting. ^^

3.Yes, especially the entry about the asperger's article(but I hadn't commented there), and I decided to add you because of the above reasons.
4.I often like to post...
-Subject by subject accounts of school.
-Bulleted movie reviews.
-Updates on video game progress.
-My take on recent political events.
-Other stuff such as reviews of sites.
