This pisses me off....
Jan. 30th, 2004 09:47 pmRead this post. Judging from what I've read in the community she first saw, it's perfectly honest.
And it pisses me off. I can't find it now, but I *know* I read a post in that comm which shall not be named that was from a parent, asking respectfully and honestly why people were childfree. When she got her answer, she accepted it instead of haranguing and flaming. For this, she got a lot of people yelling at her that "we're tired of answering that question, we don't go to your communities to insult you, etc. etc. etc." She was polite throughout most of the ensuing flamewar. Not *everyone* on that thread was rude, but the ones who were often said that about how they don't go to parenting sites and insult parents.
Here it is! Dead obvious! Certain people from you know which comm do exactly that! Not everyone in that comm, probably not even most of them, but enough to give it all a terrible name. Grow up and stop being mindless fucks, okay, then MAYBE you'd end up on LJDrama a little less often.

Re:

Date: 2004-01-30 08:37 pm (UTC)I looked at this community, about which I have already read too much. One has to take the long view in order to avoid driving one's blood pressure through the roof -- by the psycho members removing themselves from the gene pool, the human race will ultimately benefit.
I love kids, I love my kids -- but if I had realized beforehand that I have an hereditary condition, I never would have had any.

They only bad thing about it is that there's just as many psycho parents running around, and very many more nonpsycho, quite intelligent childfree people... they just manage to get outshouted by the sillies. Still, the argument that "you're not crazy, and you're smart, so you should have kids" isn't really a very good one.

Date: 2004-01-30 10:51 pm (UTC)Politely (in my judgment) asked her question.
Been answered.
Politely responded to the answers, pretty much saying "okay, I understand".
There was, at that point, no need to flip out at her and call her rude, again with the comments that "we don't go to parenting communities to criticize you". I remember reading that and laughing my head off because she hadn't criticized them.
It's not linked to anymore though, so maybe I really did imagine it.
