Modern street preaching is one of those religious acts which is really all about the person performing it instead of the people who might hear it. It's about their own "holiness" and their "call," so it is the kind of self-absorbed religiousity that Jesus was speaking out against.

Now, of course, Jesus was himself a street preacher. But he didn't sit back and condemn anyone, save for the religious establishment. He wasn't bashing on random passersby.
