I heard a chickadee today.
Apr. 18th, 2006 10:43 pmNo doubt I've heard chickadees before, but this time I knew what it was! So I told Ana, and we spent quite a bit of time listening for the chickadee and singing "fee bee, fee bee" to ourselves. And then we missed the bus, but that's all right.
Now if only I could remember what a chickadee looks like....
Ana and I are also working on recognizing different types of flowers, with limited success. She knows three or four flower names, but she can't tell which is which yet. Maybe next year.
One last Ana-comment before I go - she collects rocks. Every pebbled driveway or yard... "Connie? Can I get a wock, peeeze?"
This is so much like me from about her age until... well... much older. I *loved* my rocks. I spent many happy hours washing them, playing with them, putting nail polish on them (I didn't want the boring ones to feel boring, did I? And then the non-boring ones couldn't be left out, could they?), carting them around my room (hey, rocks are heavy!)....
I loved those rocks.
Well, I always said it - children take after their aunts and uncles. There are worse habits she could have than rock collecting.
