It would've been sooner, but she kindly let *me* nap. She's getting very sweet.

I've got a question. The fastest way to get her to fall asleep is to sing to her. I have an inordinate fondness for traditional songs. You know, the kind where people sleep with their sisters and everybody dies at the end and it's all about sex. Am I warping her little mind by using these as lullabies?

Warping is only true if you think there is a normal standard by which to compare to. If one realizes that normal really means average and that endless variety is the nature of the Universe, then no, you're not warping.

Just remember though, YOU ARE PROGRAMMING THE FUTURE. Be a good programmer.

I sing complete absurdistly surreal songs to my son, ones in which evil orange bologna takes over the Univers and tries to turn him into an orangutan, but is thwarted by the Abraham Lincoln who arrives selling vaccuums.

Nope! In all likelihood, 1) she doesn't understand all the references in the songs 2) even if she does, you're merely making her able to be able to discuss all this-- sex and death and, heh, sisters- much better in the future.

I'd reccomend that "stay awake" song from mary poppins, really, but that's just me.

hmmm... you know, I can't argue with this...

It kind of reminds me of the time when the APA said that sexual interaction would probably be healthy for younger children, though. And I still haven't decided if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

You're going to warp her mind no matter what you do - might as well have some fun along the way.

My dad used to sing Iron Butterfly to me, and look how I turned out.

Make of that what you will. ;)

If you should happen to see this before 7am... the deal is, Abdul got the job, they wanted him to start tomorrow, so we were hoping you could be here in the morning again and then bring the kiddo in to meet me at 23rd Street by 4 so that I could take her up to Mt. Vernon.

If we don't hear from you/see you in the morning, then Abdul will call and see about starting Monday.
