Remember Afghanistan? Wasn't this sort of thing ended with the invasion? The one people don't talk much about anymore? Yeah.

The Taliban have a radio station now, too.

Note: I'm not comparing one invasion to another. I just think that if you're going to invade another country and somewhere indicate that it's for freedom, you should at least finish the goddamn job.

Hey, Con, did you delete necroscopics' posts in book_icons? Or was he a wuss and deleted his own (presumably pretty inflammatory, judging by the comments on the second one) posts?

I deleted the first. No disabling comments, and it wasn't even on-topic. If he posted again, and disabled comments again, he's getting banned. This is stupid.

His first was a rant about how icons should be made, if you're curious. Nothing wrong with that, in principle - but book_icons isn't the place. If he'd left comments, I'd've just told him to cut it and stick in an icon request, but since he didn't, I wasn't in the mood to baby him.

I see nothing wrong with that argument, oddly enough. I've long said that we need to fix our problems before we start telling other people how to run their lives. However, once we get involved somewhere else, we need to actually help somehow instead of wandering off and leaving it worse than before.
