It reminds me of a short story I read once. I forget where or by who. It was aliens talking to humanity. They said they were sorry that we got left behind on Earth and that society had lost track of them. It was a shame that mutations had sprung up amongst us. But it was okay. They found us, and they found a cure. We could be welcomed back into galactic society, and we wouldn't even look weird. They'd found a way to turn us all back into being black-skinned.

That was cute. But imagine how incredibly enraged people would be if we tried to find a "cure" for being *pick any "race"*. (race in quotes because it's not a scientific or really well-definable concept, but still, I think the point comes across).

Back on topic, that was an interesting article. THe attitude of some of these people can really make my blood boil, however...

Yup, that one's a classic. Gernsbacher is just plain awesome. I wish more of her work on implicit learning were available online.
