Normally, I think that PETA's a bunch of loons (in the bad sense), but this smacks of overeaction. Apparently, they were protesting inhumane killing practices. Sounds reasonable mihi. But this was enough to call out the carnivore calvary. Why, I don't know. Aren't there better ways to spend your life?

No, no. Peta is a completely justified organization and their philosophy makes perfect sense.

hmmm... each line was supposed to get increasingly smaller, but they didn't quite. I'll have to refresh my html skills and figure out why this didn't work.

I think they don't get that treatment more often because people didn't dare - because of that free speech thing, freedom to assemble thing, and the right to have your own opinion thing and all that.

I don't agree with much of the PETA line - most of it, actually - but I *do* support their right to annoy me, harassment-free, in public spaces. After all, I've done some annoying myself for other causes.

I don't see how turning on a sprinkling system or talking into a microphone isn't free speech. Perhaps a much more annoying invasive and disrespectful form of free speech, but free speech all the same.

Not that I agree with the tactics used, now would I want them used on me, and most assuredly if they were breaking any laws or infringing in any way on my rights I would do my all to prosecute these people to the full extent of the law...

Totally unrelated, but I thought you might be interested (http://ucsdnews.ucsd.edu/newsrel/soc/Autism.asp), just in case you havn't read about this already.

I'm not sure what PETA expects from Texas, honestly. They're an organization that promotes vegan lifestyles, and they're campaigning in the beef capital of the United States (if not the world). What'd they expect, a red carpet?

Also, as a complete stranger, I find the whole "call your mom" stuff fascinating, but really ... how about e-mail?

Like others, I don't know what they expected really.
I love KFC, whether thats right or wrong, I'd live on the stuff if I could but I have heard horror stories of the ways their chickens are kept and then killed. Stories, mind. They could be fake but if they are true, Im all for giving animals better lives before they're killed. I may eat meat but that doesn't mean I don't care about the animals Im eating.
Problem with PETA is that they've done so many bullshit ridiculous campaigns that people ignore them when they campaign for something that isn't ridiculous. Kinda the boy who cried wolf thing.
