Well, that was quick.
Apr. 14th, 2005 02:56 pmI feel somewhat better now. I thought I'd be gone for a while, hence the cryptic message. It seemed less worrisome than the reaction I'd probably provoke by simply not posting - I mean, seriously, have you guys *seen* how much I post lately?
Now, I've been thinking. I know absolutely nothing of any sign language, despite knowing several random facts about sign languages in general. Lately, I've been looking at the various methods for transcribing sign languages, and thinking "I could do better". Probably could, most of them seem unnecessarily cumbersome. I think a big part of the problem is that none of them, afaik, were invented by speakers of any sort of sign language. So maybe I couldn't do better :)
That doesn't stop me from trying. Not for any real language, but for one of my non-existant conlangs - a language with no speakers, so nobody can get upset if I frak it up. I keep thinking that a system like hangul might work well... except different. *ponders*
