What sort of articles/posts are you most likely to read? What sort of articles/posts are you most likely to link to? Comment on?

The results of this question won't change my posting habits in the slightest. I just wanna know.

I'm not sure. I like when you copy the text (mainly for visual reasons( and I like when there is some description as to what sort of link it will be.

I think it depends largely on my mood - how much I feel like reading, what I am interested in, whether I feel up to yet another omg my culture sucks article...

I do tend to read posts about issues related to psychology or education when I know they are, as those are my fields and I can always stand to learn more about them. Not sure beyond that.

Yes, it's been fairly clear... which is actually quite surprising, as I usually can't read text in italics. But I don't recall having problems. It's possible that it's because most of the time the italics isn't for huge blocks of text. I read most stuff on LJ in my own style, which helps a lot and is why I like reading LJ more than most of the web.

As long as people don't get too fancy with their fonts/colors/effects, I can generally read things fairly comfortably. Except when the cat jumps into my lap... silly kitty.

Like [livejournal.com profile] leora said what I read usually depends on my mood. If I'm bored I will read absolutely anything. I suppose if you're looking for a category the ones I most enjoy are things that are/could be of general interest but that I know very little about. I've surprised myself in conversations about aspergers by being able to hold my own rather intelligently. That's entirely a product of your links.

I'm most likely to read posts that are any/all of the following:

a) divided into reasonably-sized paragraphs instead of one big lump
b) on a subject I already care about
c) clear, articulate, and organized (so I don't have to work too hard)
d) emotionally resonant
e) funny (including sarcasm, irony, etc.)
f) illustrated by photographs
g) informative
h) particularly wise

I'm most likely to link to posts that are:

a) funny
b) informative
c) particularly wise

I'm most likely to comment on posts that:

a) are on a subject about which I'm somewhat knowledgeable
b) are on a subject about which I have a strong opinion
c) leave me with questions I want to ask
d) frustrate me with logical fallacies (such as false dichotomy)
e) indicate that a close friend is in need of some reassurance
f) explicitly request my feedback

Looking at the other comments, I think I may have misunderstood you. When it comes to clicking through on links in people's LJ posts, I generally do not click through unless the post gives me a good idea of what I'm about to read and why it might interest me. Otherwise, I just move on to the next post on my friends list. I don't have time or energy to click on every random link everyone posts every day.

It depends on mood, but one major factor for me is a good hook. I seem to only rarely follow links (either to external sites or to lj-cuts) unless I actually know what I'm getting. So I'm much more likely to read something if there's a paragraph or two of brief explanation at the start.

If I've got time, I often read links that are related to psychology and various disorders. I read a lot of the autism links, and if the link in question leads to a livejournal drama, I almost always read those.

Practically nothing can induce me to comment on an article, though! I'm v. intimidated by commenting on your journal. The other people who comment can be scary and discussiony/argumentative, and I try to avoid that.

I avoid articles on politics. I mean, I'll seek them out on my own, through newspapers, but I refuse to click on them in someone's journal.

I don't click on an article when there's nothing in the link/flavor text to indicate what it's about.

I especially like articles on science and sometimes on religion.

Lastly, and this is a very general thing, I don't like to click on links unless they automatically open in a new window. I always lose my place if they open in the same window. *grins*

When it comes to commenting, that all depends. If I have something useful/interesting to contribute, I'll comment; if I merely agree with whatever was said, I don't comment. I hate "me too" comments with no substance.

It varies. I tend not to click on Times articles because I hate their registration thing, but if they are mirrored, I usually do.

It takes sheer effort. ;)

Seriously, I don't right-click on links because I'm lazy, sure, but also because I really honestly forget. It's not my habit. And yet, it's my habit to think that the link has opened in a new window--because other websites appear so very different--so when I'm done reading the article, I close the window. And then I have to find where I was on my friends list. When commenting, I remember to use the back button.

You look to have customised your journal layout a lot; maybe you could customise it so that links on your friends page all open in a new window?

I'm drawn to fun links such as flash animation or links about interesting and unusual museums and attractions!! I am also drawn to interesting debates regarding autism and Asperger's syndrome. Stuff that particularly interests me I tend to post and share in my LJ too! :)

Hm, it is kind of tempting to fiddle with that.
