I had a woman get really rude with me once because I didn't hear her say "excuse me".
I had the opposite happen once. I bumped into somebody in a train station - really, we barely touched, and I said "excuse me" before sitting down. Apparently she didn't hear me because she starts ranting about "this is why I hate white people". Gah.
