while denying that it was in any way wrong to act like that.

But now I'm not sure where I read that. Does anybody have a link?

I don't remember that specifically, but [personal profile] muccamukk maintained a roundup of links about Gaiman: https://muccamukk.dreamwidth.org/1678972.html and maybe if you look through it you'll remember?

It was in the Tortoise Media article - and they got some statement or other from him out of context, and Tortoise Media misquoted it. I saw it in his blog too.

He basically said that it wasn't wrong to engage in various somewhat...controversial forms of BDSM sex, but that he didn't do the things he was being accused of and everything he did was consensual, and he's terribly sorry if there was any misunderstanding.

You may have read it in my journal or someone else's? We were all discussing the Tortoise Media expose and then the New York Magazine article.

Palmer and Gaiman for the most part have remained silent. Palmer is bound by a court order in a custody dispute. I was following Palmer for a bit, and well, I listened to her most recent albums?
The Songs from New Zealand...kind of told me all I needed to know about that and then some, so, if she's bound under a gag order? She kind of broke it a bit in that album.

Confirming what was said above. You’re not hallucinating that he said that, or more accurately that it was reported that he said that, but the only source iirc was Tortoise Media and Gaiman’s own blog.

Yup. It's why the Tortoise Media article wasn't very reliable and we were all on the fence about taking it seriously? It kind of took the game of telephone to extraordinary lengths? The New York Magazine article on the other hand...that was reliable, and just about destroyed what was left of Gaiman's career.

Yeah. Same here. I wasn't going to listen to the whole of the Tortoise Media podcast. I wasn't fence sitting, but I was prepared to believe that some things had been exaggerated. The New York Magazine piece, on the other hand, completely destroyed him (deservedly).

I'm willing to say that you're correct - the New Magazine article did completely destroy him. I also think it hurt his bitter custody battle with Palmer. Sandman S2 is struggling because of it, as is Dead Omens. But? His books haven't been yanked completely off book store shelves yet. Although, the small indies don't appear to be carrying him any longer and all media deals, including comics? Cancelled. He'd have to write under an alias, and that's hard to do.
