Drop an Egg? Clean It Up Faster With This Useful Restaurant Trick

Drop an egg? You'd better lick it up, it's like liquid gold! Also, a dropped egg is a seriously bad omen in a dream, so whatever the cost of eggs today you probably should try not to do it in dreams or otherwise.

My local answer is lower than your lowest poll option! (3.99, dozen large store brand, in Texas.)

My answer is for this Wednesday -- $4.99 at Trader Joe's, still limited to 1 per customer.

What do you think about the felon's plan to import eggs from Türkiye and South Korea? They claim it'll add "hundreds of millions" of eggs to the supply, but the US has like 340 million residents. They'd need to import 4.08 billion eggs just to supply 1 dozen eggs per person.

A dozen eggs costs 399 pennies where I am unless you buy fancy or organic eggs. I think backyard-flock eggs are more, also.

My mother would sprinkle flour or oatmeal over a dropped egg to reduce the slime factor. Never heard of the salt trick.

Eggs are still $6/dozen at Target. I'm planning to go to Aldi's soon for other reasons, but I'll try to remember to check on the price of eggs there.

I've been getting the six per carton lately, cheaper, and I only need that many. That's $4-6. Everything else is $9.50-11.50.

The last time I bought eggs at the grocery they were more expensive than at the farmer's market.

I haven't checked lately, but I gather while the prices haven't changed, availability hasn't, in that one friend reported there being no available eggs at their local grocer. Despite the only bird flu culling that I'm aware of being on the other side of the country -- I wouldn't have thought we had that many eggs coming that far.

Same concern in the other direction - it is an incredibly long way to ship eggs. It's a bit over 2100 km to Adelaide, and the culling has been happening in Victoria, so I'd expect the shortages to be in Victoria.

Not that I'm disagreeing with you as a possibility, because we do get stuff shipped that far that needs careful handling, just, the idea of shipping *eggs* that far boggles the mind.

Depends on the 6 pack? If it's 4.99, yes, if it is 6.99, most likely not. But if you are a single person and don't use that many eggs? And if you consider eggs may go bad after a bit? Then yes.

That's good to know. Unfortunately I do not have a large enough fridge to stockpile on well anything. Again, single person, one bedroom apartment.

Eggs jumped a dollar at my usual store last week (from the week before), after having been steady for a few weeks. Also last week, I saw an article about a local outfit doing backyard-chicken rentals, a concept I had not heard of before. (The rentals, I mean; I'm familiar with backyard chickens.)
