I can't really see any situation where a word like that might come in handy, can you?
Sigh. I have not read a single article about Trump's picks for anything. If the headline does not include the words "totally unqualified" then it's obviously an opinion piece, so why bother? And you know, the annoying thing about our present timeline is that if they were all struck down by lightning en masse, a classic sign of godly wrath, it'd all be blamed on somebody else.

But he also has eye beams, so there's that.
Trump would LOVE to have laser eye beams.

Date: 2024-11-22 09:02 pm (UTC)What a handy word. Sobs that it's needed.
I would like to see some qualified independent review of this cyber-security concern about the election. I don't have the right expertise and can't say for sure that it's not "Blue Anon", but on the other hand, a really effective strategy would be to complain loudly and falsely for four years about a "rigged" (sic) election and then get your tech-bro friends to actually rig the next one... and we're all so freaking worn down that this isn't getting attention, and maybe it's nothing, but wouldn't it be better to check it out? I've already written my senator about it (sadly, my House rep is a whackjob with no credibility).

Covers much the same technical ground, but Stephenson also included more of the business and geopolitical aspects and also writes in a, shall we say, more casual style.
(If you like Stephenson's infodumps but hate all the plot and characterization that gets in the way of more infodump, this is your jam.)
