And today it was Year of Hell
Oct. 21st, 2024 10:20 pmThe villain of the piece only wants to Make The Krenim Imperium Great Again (and also get his wife back). If he'd spent less time on calculations before killing his wife and committing multiple genocides and more time on philosophy and history it might have occurred to him that life in the former Krenim Imperium was still pretty damn good and also, who knows, things could change in the future. And maybe he spent his life doing that after the reset.
Paris compares him at times to Captains Bligh and Nemo, which is weird because he's obviously Ahab.
I like to imagine that the Krenim mutineer was pining for Tom. E did me one better and suggested that Tom and Chakotay are spending their free time on the Krenim ship in the eternal pastime of only one bed (but a whole lot of ropes). Welp, there you have it. I must admit, somebody has to shut Tom up sooner or later.
But no, snarking aside this is a great episode even if I can't quite figure out why both Neelix and Harry Kim are considered essential senior staff, to stay on board at all costs, much less how Voyager managed to make allies with two other spacefaring civilizations in the state they were in. I don't even mind the total and complete reset at the end after they destroy the ship, and normally I hate reset episodes because they're pointless.
