After the dream, I woke up and checked my email

And Paws at Peace had sent us another follow-up, wherein they informed us that they have a support group for people grieving the loss of a pet.

(They also asked me to rate and review them on Google, and it's a delicate balance trying to fit both those things in one email, but what can you do?)

I brought it up with Jenn, and her comment was that it is insane that we're getting more check-ins from our pet euthanasia service than we did when our mom died. Which is a good point, and I feel inclined to make it to the hospital, and probably also my mother's insurance. (No, seriously, her insurance check-in nurse was pretty good, and called every week to make sure we had no questions about her care, either from an insurance or a medical standpoint, but clearly that job stopped at Mommy's death.)

The human hospital may assume that you're getting services elsewhere. They shouldn't, of course.

I'm pretty sure the human hospital doesn't care whether they're getting services or not. From their perspective, it's not their job.

I mean, I'd expect the pet euthanasia to feel that way and wouldn't blame them if they did! But now that I see that they don't I do kinda wonder why the public hospital social workers didn't actively reach out like this. I know that the hospital does have grief and bereavement services - but you have to look for them, they don't tell you about them upfront.
