The kids were talking about how much snowier it was when they were kids and - it's just, I spent that entire time agonizing about how much less snow they got in their childhood than I did. And I remember being a kid reading books set in NYC, written in the 1960s and set in the 1930s (the Amy and Laura/Veronica Ganz books) and noting how very much snowier the winter scenes seemed to be than I was used to, something which clearly isn't just nostalgia but is borne out by looking at the data.

More and more, when we get snow it melts. So it's snow, melt, snow, melt, etc. Used to be, once we got the first good snow of the winter, it was on the ground until spring thaw.
