I've heard of languages where men and women use different words for many common things, and I've heard of languages where people speak differently when talking to/around/about various in-laws, but I haven't heard of languages where you use different words when you're in a particular area.

Oh that is very cool--work jargon + codeswitch, but taken to a different level for a different purpose.

There are tiny traces of that strategy in English - like not saying "Macbeth" in a theatre. My favourite is that traditionally Scottish sailors won't say "pig" on a boat (or have any pork aboard) - if they must talk about swine aboard ship, they refer to "curly tails" - but saying pig on land is fine, even if you are a sailor (so it's slightly different from languages where you don't name bears).
