So Finn had a trip to the vet yesterday

and you'll all be happy to hear that today he smelled some bacon and got up and walked over to eat it.

This is normal behavior from him, and it was the lack of this sort of thing which prompted our late night vet trip. We spent several hours at the vet's office, making fun (via text) of the other guy in the waiting room, who was on the phone giving some truly awful not pep talk to a younger friend.

So glad to hear he's doing better. Dehydration in animals, even by itself, can be really devastating.

Yeah. We actually had that problem with my mother for... honestly, for a long time, even before everything else. We had not realized he was dehydrated (his nose was wet, certainly, and he *had* been drinking water) but when they said they were going to rehydrate him we went "Oh, yeah, that definitely could be part of what's made him so out of it".

Bacon is a miracle-worker. Jesus Christ Himself got up and left the tomb because he smelled bacon.

But more poignantly, Finn did not respond to bacon yesterday, or even lettuce, which is his actual favorite food. He will jump off the bed and run across the room to get lettuce, and for a small arthritic dog that's saying a lot.

(He'll also bite off your finger if you're not careful.)
