I never told her she did it because I thought it was a little funny, but Mommy could be so prickly at the thought that we were criticizing her - and being sick did not help.
Anyway, she'd ask me to adjust her bed or her pillow. So I'd lift it up. "No, not that much." Then I'd lower it. "A bit too far!" Finally, when I had it exactly the way it was before she'd say "Oh, that's so much better, thank you so much!"
I did this for her at home several times a day, and then these last few months I'd do it for her every visit, and she had no idea she was doing this. No idea, I swear!
Speaking of my mother and being sick, a friend of my sister's set up a gofundme to help cover the looming medical costs and, of course, the cost of cremation. Anything left goes to the mortgage. I know I asked for help not that long ago, and I'm still extremely thankful for that (and the postcards!) but... god, I don't know why dying costs so much. It's ridiculous.
