actually, more so since she went to the hospital because I need something to do and she's currently not such a great conversationalist.

Even if I hadn't been, I would still have heard about Queen Elizabeth dying. It's impossible not to. You'd have to be living under a rock, and that rock would have to be on Sentinel Island.

In a way, it's comforting. I mean, not that I have an opinion on her or anything - other than moderately resenting the amount of thought I've given to the British Monarchy over my lifetime because they are constantly in the news and I, therefore, do have an opinion on their family life - but just the reminder that, yup, this is a personal tragedy that happens to literally everybody. We all end up losing somebody, sooner or later, usually at least two somebodies and probably more.

And now they've all lost her, her entire family, and though they must have been expecting it sooner or later it still has to hurt. And while I don't particularly want them to feel sad or anything, it's nice to remember that we all do it at least once before we also die.

Honestly, it'd be sadder if you never did lose anybody you cared about. There's only two ways that can happen, after all.
