I swear, periods would be 20x less annoying if we got them even 1/2 or 1/3 as frequently as we currently do. Uh... and they were as heavy and lasted as long as the current type, I mean. It'd be 20x MORE annoying if we got them less often but they were more awful.

Or if they were opt-in! If you want to get pregnant you could flip a switch and the periods would start and could be monthly or whatever, and if you don't want to get preggers you could just...not have a period. Ever.

I too am bleeding and would like zero bleeding. It would be cool if my blood would stay in my body where it fucking belongs.

I dunno. I've ever only gotten periods every once in a while, and it's super annoying because I can't predict them, so I have to be constantly ready. My doctor told me when I had gone a year without a period I was allowed to assume I'd finished menopause. So I stopped being constantly prepared and then wham! Out of no where, 15 months later.

That's true. That would probably even be better for me, and I don't get them that frequently.

My daughter would very much like not to have anything to do with them... she has some serious hormonal issues and basically goes slightly psychotic very so often, or spends the entire time curled up in a ball of misery and agony. Predicable would be nice, ditto every month, rather than random intervals ranging between 2 weeks to 3 months.

Trust me, more annoying is always an option.

I know, right? And does that one mean you should go to the doctor and get checked out? Because bleeding during menopause is a Bad Sign (Cancer! not one of the other ones), requiring a doctor visit.

I know people who have regulated their period timing with hormonal pills, but that only works if you can take the hormonal pills.

BOdies! So cool, such a pain.

this one girl in high school said she only had one every 6 months or so. her doctor said it was nothing to worry about & that she was more likely to have twins if she got pregnant.
don't know how true that is.

but i agree; the fewer the better.

A friend who has periods (or at least did until fairly recently) once mentioned thinking each ovary has+ its own independent cycle time, and ovulation alternating between them would then cause variations with no obvious pattern.

That would makes sense, including really bad ones where they are briefly very close to one another.
