Went to the doctor today.

We'd called ahead to let them know we might be a few minutes late, and showed up at 11:09 for an 11am appointment. And boy, the waiting room was crowded, but actually the wait wasn't too bad at all. By doctor time it was almost non-existent!

Anyway, as we're sitting and waiting some woman comes in and says that she has an 11:30 appointment for an echo, but the car won't wait, can she be seen now?

I checked my phone discreetly at this time, it was 11:15.

And the receptionist said that all appointments are actually running on time today, so no.

"But he won't wait!"

"Well, it's a half hour appointment anyway, so...."

I get that sometimes you're a bit strapped, but I can't quite work out what this woman was thinking.

Wouldn't you guess, the only person to take theirs off for any length of time was this lady? "I wasn't sure if you could understand me with it on".

It makes no sense to arrange for transportation for an appointment and not make sure they'll either wait or have a return trip booked with someone else.

Yeah, this makes no sense. Even if it were a quick procedure, this isn't "wait while I drop this letter in the mailbox"-class transport-pausing. Sheesh.

this reminds me that today that some guy on the bus wanted to go see if he friend was home near where i got dropped off. he said he'd "only be 2-3 minutes." but the bus driver was very firm with "i have a schedule to keep."
he was on the bus for 10 minuets before that listening to music on his phone, he could've been calling him that whole time.

Let me guess, she was a middle-class white woman between 40 and 60. :(

Do you know what? I didn't actually look!

Though, given that this is the cardiologist, I suspect she was older than 40 for sure, at least in her mid-50s.
