conulyI got the first one as an ARC and just read the latter two from the library.
For middle grade, this series is definitely a love it or hate it, depending on how much you can tolerate the protagonist's compulsive lying and periodic rudeness.
This is not why I'm posting about it. The eponymous Ivy Pocket has a habit of declaring, with varying degrees of plausibility, that she has all the natural instincts of a wide variety of professions, people, and objects, and one of them was so delightful that I went weeks waiting for a chance to naturally fit it into the conversation before giving up and just spelling it out baldly, as I'm doing here.
She was hiding from somebody or other, and she declared that it was easily accomplished for she has all the natural instincts of a lost sock.
And there you have it. I, for one, would love to see that enter wider circulation.
