and the damn thing is draining now. I don't feel *much* better yet, because pus from boils is the absolute grossest thing ever, even beating out all other pus from everything else, and of course I have an open wound that stings, but I feel a little better.

I have told everybody IRL and now I'm telling you, when I die I'm gonna come back as a ghost just so I can revel in the joys of being noncorporeal.

I'm coming back as an angel - just as noncorporeal but with more influence, (and hopefully) less scare factor. I think I'd have too many temptations as a ghost to just annoy or scare the shit out of everyone - the sort of power I *don't* want to have because hot damn I will use it.

My dad had a lovely tom cat who used to somehow find other cats to brawl with way out in the country where we lived, and he'd come home every now and then with an abscess on his head, which an abscess on a cat is basically just a huge boil because their skin heals over a wound and traps infection inside. I'd roll him up in a beach towel and put hot saltwater compresses on his head until the thing opened up and drained, with him muttering and threatening my life the whole time.

Pus from a cat's head is pretty damned breathtaking bad, but getting it out made him feel so much better. Once that was done, his manners would magically return and he'd go back to being a lovely boy.
