So did everybody else!

Our optometrist is, hands down, the most covid-conscious medical professional we've seen this past year other than that one trip to MSK. I am including hospital visits. (Our dentist comes in just behind.) Can't even pick up glasses without an appointment, and definitely never two patients in the office at once - they only let us all come in at once because we confirmed we were one household. Hand sanitizer and a fresh mask at the door, temperature check and a finger thingy, they sterilize all the frames between usages. The only thing I'd like more is if they could open the windows, but that's not possible with the design of the building. (I mean, I'd also like if they were an accessible office, but that's also not possible with the building design. That's not their fault, I blame the architect.)

I already liked our optometrist because there's no drops, he has the machine to take a picture (better on so. many. levels!) but this just confirms that I made the right choice when I first started going there.

My mother wasn't really up to a trip into the city, so I gambled for her and went with a Staten Island eye doctor. I've been burned multiple times going to eye doctors on the Island, that's *why* I go into the city, but this one wasn't too bad. Not nearly as covid-conscious as my usual one, though - everybody masked, but.... I'm going to pick up her glasses for her tomorrow. What with the heat and the mugginess we've rescheduled our planned trip three times already, so forget it, we can always go back if there's a problem.

Oh god, I hope that when I can get new glasses, I can find someplace with the machine that'll show the frames on my face. With my eyesight, if I don't have lens in I can't tell *what* the frames look like except at like 6 inches, which doesn't give me any idea what they really look like...

I end up with lots of selfies on my phone if I'm choosing glasses without a friend around. :)

Makes sense that an optometrist would be careful. They're right in a person's face. No way to avoid it.

My dentist looks like he's going to handle uranium or something. He's so masked up and wrapped up. But once again, he's in your mouth. So he has to be as careful as possible.

Absolutely. It's been the same with my dentist and dental hygienist during the visits I've undertaken during this time of Pandemic. The Eye Institute people just keep putting off my appointments. It's been close to two years since my last check-up with the Eye Institute.

Yay for new glasses! I really need to do that soon. Should have done it in the lull between vax and surge, darnit.

That's good. It was such a relief and improvement when I was able to replace the damaged glasses this summer. Our ophthalmologist is good too, and our dentist is the best. The doctors -- not very much. Argh.

We can't be too careful, alas. Good to know your eye doc is erring on the side of caution.
