Disney is run by cowards, and even if we're just gonna ignore their glaring UST I still think we should've spent a little more time with Namaari. She got character growth too, so it would've been nice to see just a little more of it. Like, ten, twenty minutes, tops.
Also, upon reflection it really undermines the core message somewhat for them to actually get ripped off in the villainous hive of scams and so on. Cute baby is cute, and at least *somebody* is taking care of the kid, but c'mon. Did anybody think that through when writing it out?
I enjoyed it, and as always, I show my enjoyment through criticism!

Date: 2021-06-22 03:44 pm (UTC)We finished it last night, and I was struck by how Namaari's mother doesn't actually get her change shown, and given how key she is, that was a big hole. Also, the overall pacing wasn't as good as in Soul, which we saw this weekend.

Yes, as a matter of fact I can be a cynic. Why do you ask?

(Plausibility gap: There really ought to be a non-zero number of mixed marriages even before the plot kicks off. There probably are, we just didn't hear about it.)
