She's enjoying it, but was more than a little weirded out by how very into her current video game both her mom and I got. We separately explained to her that there is a reason we haven't had a gaming system in this house...!

I read "switch" very differently initially, and went all Wuthering Heights.

Oh geez, look out, that game can suck up all your free time (it's WONDERFUL! But yeah, long plot and lots to do).

Me too: in my original interpretation, the thought of you having both a relative who would give a switch for Christmas and a daughter who would enjoy it was a bit frightening.

Actually, after reading it several times, I'm still not sure what "switch" actually means here. Maybe it's the brain-fog from being sick....

That AI generated face article is really interesting. I can imagine artificially generated faces could be a useful resource for character design work.

Then I thought about how such things could be used to fake evidence or documents. Not that I don't think that it's not an interesting field to explore further. It's just those faces are really easy to mistake for real especially when you're just glancing at them like one might when reading a news article.

Michelle got me one, which I think was to get me off of hers, as I was playing Zelda too often.

There's a Nintendo Online app that will give you access to a list of old games. Be warned that that's a dangerous slope if you like old games.

Me, I'm already saturated with things to do, so barely have time for games anyway.

We had a student and her boyfriend at the observatory Christmas night, and after dinner, the telescopes were closed (weathered-out), they brought out their Switch and started playing a Nintendo trivia game, like things from Mario games. For example, objects moving left and right across the screen, then you're asked 'how many X were shown'.

I think the only way I would have scored any points on that game would have been through sheer random guessing.
