I liked the woman on Suits. I'm sure the happy couple will be very happy. But I can only take so much of this! Dear god, it's worse than "What did Trump tweet today?" I'd rather hear Santa Baby on repeat for the next year than any more about their weddings. It's all so vapid and, frankly, repetitive. No more!

I was at university with his brother and people still ask me if I met him. Like no I didn't we didn't do that mixing of social classes thing there and the monarchy aren't helping with that.

My annoyance is purely with the media cooing. It's not the royals' fault; indeed, they've publicly stated how much they dislike it. Abdicating would not free them from this; did divorce free Diana?

I can't for the life of me believe I had to see an allcaps BREAKING NEWS alert that he's become engaged. I mean, those same allcaps BREAKING NEWS alerts are also designed to inform me some country has actually engaged us in WWIII or that a nuclear bomb has just been dropped somewhere, so seriously I'm not too amused. I do not care what he does.

Even more annoyingly, every time I open my news app, the alert is still hanging out there in allcaps at the top of my feed against a screamingly bright red background so I have to glance-reread it in order to scroll past to make sure I haven't missed any alerts of the more dreaded variety hanging out in that same bright red box. Just. Gah.

It's not breaking news, they've got months of engagement before they stand in front of the altar. Seriously. It's not like they ran off to Vegas. (And more power to them if they do, though I don't think I want to read about it either.)

Abdicating might not free them from this attention, but it might at least reduce it: this guy's life is tourist publicity for Great Britain in a way that his cousins' aren't, and a repeated "no comment" and "that's a private matter" would probably help. Assuming he considered it "help": he was raised to go into the family business, and maybe he likes the attention, or agrees that it's a fair price for being rich without having to do other work.

They're planning a big fancy wedding, not going to the registry office, or having a small church wedding in front of just their immediate families, as soon as the paperwork can be managed. Yes, the bride-to-be is an actress and publicity is part of that career, but a good publicist could pitch a relentless "she's delighted about her engagement, and let me tell you about her next movie."

I'm bemused that you've seen that many articles. I think it was the puff piece on the radio news, and got a bit of a run in the other news I read, but not that much, and at least he is still our prince!

I understand how you feel, but I have to admit, I'm kind of excited about it. I don't really know MM or watch her show, but I really like Prince Harry and royal watching in general. It's a breath of fresh air compared to all the Trump and Great Pervert Purge news coverages. I'm looking forward to the fashion and tiara bling.

Meh, I didn't hear about that at the time - I pay very little attention to celebrities, and that's all the House of Windsor is in this century - so had to look it up just now.

'Tempest in a teapot', I'd call it. He was 20, he wore a Halloween costume, probably thinking no more than "Nazis are scary, right?" and apparently totally spacing on the fact that as a prince of England, the press would never in his life let anyone forget about that. Sheesh, when he finally dies in old age, they'll say "Prince Harry, who once dressed as a Nazi..."

I was in my 20s then as well, and was appropriately outraged.

Now that I'm a tiny bit older, I realize I was pretty immature, and he had to have been more immature in some very important ways due to having the media eye on him his entire life. So I can cut him some slack now, as he hasn't done it again.

It really was. Someone with more experience and better sense ought to have caught him beforehand and warned him that a member of the Royal Family dressing as an officer of Britain's worst enemy ever would not be well-received. Maybe someone did, and he was too stubborn to listen - 20-year-olds are known for that.

It has to suck to be a prince (or princess; even worse!) - especially to be the younger son of a formerly-great House declined to mere figureheads, with no function but upholding the ceremonial traditions of a Monarchy that's been moribund for a century. Unlike Prince Whatsit of Jordan, who'll be a real King with real power in the world, the assorted royal kids of Britain will never be anything but paparazzi-bait - that has to rankle, especially when one is only 20. And this IS Princess Di's kid, after all - maybe bad choices just run in the genes. Not that any of the Royals seem notable for keen intelligence.

Meh, power to the people. Those who dress as Nazis deserve to get punched in the face like Nazis; unfortunately this is a life-lesson that Prince Harry probably never got.

Sheesh, there sure is a lot to be said for sending the royal spawn off to be brought up totally incognito by humble folk out in the middle of nowhere.
