Date: 2017-11-24 12:17 am (UTC)Another, really excellent, way to reduce usage that is particularly LED-specific, is to have all your outdoor lighting smart enough to turn down to 10% illumination (which will appear to be about half the dimness) when nobody is near, and then light up to full brightness when a car/cyclist/pedestrian is within 50 meters. That's not something previous generations of outdoor area lighting could do, because they couldn't dim well nor could they increase illumination quickly.
