Three: The dialog sounds a bit more down-to-earth than is usual in Star Trek. It's more realistic, I guess, but if I wanted realism in my fiction I wouldn't be watching Star Trek, would I?

They're probably trying to set a trend. Supposedly, it's unhealthy to spend a long time sitting at your workstation, so clearly, workstations without seats are the way to go. It's better for your posture (TM). I sure hope the Federation offers comfy common rooms where people can sit and chill when they don't have to stand at their workstations though? ;)

I too am pretty uncomfortable with Michael's characterization this season. It's like the writers wanted two separate characters and just awkwardly shoved them into one.
