And I've hidden it in enchilada sauce, and normally I'd hide it in chili, but coming right after enchiladas is a bit weird. If the girls know there's squash, they won't eat it, but we got two pounds of it from the CSA! All the obvious options are out, but where else can I stick an ounce or two of the stuff? Running out of ideas here....

puree it and stir it into hummus? Or guacamole?

Oh, you mean winter squash! Can you put it in carrot cake? Not a full substitution, because you still need the texture of raw grated carrots, and I think you need to need to pre-cook and mash squash to use them for baking. But you can probably substitute 20-25% of the carrot for squash and nobody will notice. Or use squash puree instead of applesauce in something like a glorious morning muffin.

I meant the other way around. 75% carrot, so it has the carrot cake nature, and 25% winter squash. If it was summer squash, I could not imagine any way to hide it in baked goods. (Not that it's necessarily impossible, but I can't imagine it.)

Well... you could bake it, puree it, and use it like pumpkin to make pumpkin pie or pumpkin muffins (mix puree, white cake mix and spices.) Canned pumpkin is actually Hubbard squash anyway; they won't know the difference.

Suppose you made the muffins with chocolate cake mix instead, or put dark chocolate and vanilla extract in the pumpkin pie?

A friend of mine makes lasagna sauce using both passed tomatoes and pureed pumpkin. She obviously does it for the different coloured layers, but since it's all eaten together in the end, I guess you could just mix pumpkin and tomato from the start?
