Great links as always! Those chalkboard drawings are really poignant - I suppose the new blackboards were put up over Thanksgiving weekend. So strange to think that no one who saw those drawings when they were made is still alive.

No, it wasn't. And no, I didn't. I know I ought to have, but I didn't really want to make the 10 minute round-trip walk over $1.49 in milk.

You can use sour milk to make pancakes! When I was growing up my parents hated to call in repair people, but they also hated to replace appliances (it wasn't for financial reasons; we had the money), so for a year or so we had a fridge that would not keep milk cold enough to prevent it souring before a carton was finished. My mother used the sour milk in pancakes.

Well, freshly bought milk shouldn't yet have turned into yoghurt, but there isn't really anything wrong with it per se - as long as there's no warning smell.
